We are forwarding an important press release from the European Council and Parlment regarding

In December 2022, EU countries within the Council reached agreement on a proposal for a regulation that aims to establish new rules to reduce methane emissions in the energy sector. In November 2023, the Council and the European Parliament agreed provisionally on the regulation. The text needs to be formally endorsed and adopted by both institutions.

The proposal is part of the Fit for 55 package that aims to decrease EU greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030.

This is good news for everybody taking action in emissions reduction and hope the situation will be clarified quickly on how to implement such a monitoring program for operators to give them a chance to transform a problem into new opportunities.
